This is a time of transition, of upheaval , of uncertainty. As an artist I am grounded in the natural world around me here in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. One thing I’ve learned from nature is to understand cycles. Nothing is permanent and yet everything returns when it’s season comes round. Right now it is Spring in my world. New life emerges daily. My personal work is focused in this cycle yet I acknowledge that the cycles of nature exist within larger cycles. There is a celestial cycle, a cultural cycle, a political cycle. Time moves in gyres. We are experiencing the cyclical, spiraling nature of history and the inevitable collapse of one era and the emergence of another. If you experience this as overwhelming that is understandable!
I see my work as an offering to stay focused on what has consistently given me joy and delight and that is the beauty of each season and the promise of its return. If you find grace in my work then I’ve done my job

I get very hungry writing. If you enjoyed this post you can buy me a taco to say thanks.
