It is not officially fall in my home until I make this delicious rustic applesauce, at least once. I also make a batch at Hannukah  to serve over latkes. It's one of the best low fat and low calorie desserts you will ever taste, and not at all difficult to make. It's best with organic apples as they are more flavorful.

Ingredients:

6 Granny Smith apples

3 tart apples (Breaburn, Pink Lady, Gala, etc)

1/2 - 1 C organic sugar

1/2 t cinnamon

2 T butter (optional if you'd prefer dairy free)

1 1/2 C water

3/4 C Grand Marnier

Peel, core, and cube apples into 1/2" chunks. Add rest of ingredients, using a large stoneware bowl. I like very tart applesauce so I use the minimum amount but you can add more halfway through if you like. Microwave on high 10 min, remove, stir, adjust sugar. Microwave another 15 min. Alternatively, you can bring to boil and simmer for the same times. Transfer by batches into food processor. Leave a bit of chunky pieces for a rustic texture. I make mine like this:

Enjoy! I like to make and serve in my 8 cup flower bowl, and set the table with my Urban Rustic bowls

Please place custom orders for the holidays ASAP. I'll make pieces and fire 2X/week, but they go fast! I hope you get to share a favorite meal with your favorite people this week.
